Hi all,
I'm new to the list & new to captive portals too :)
I've been trying to get Grase to work, and this is my fourth attempt, but
to my dismay, I can't get it working on my apt-updated ubuntu server 14.
with nightly grase .
cat /proc/version gives:
Linux version 3.13.0-32-generic (buildd@kissel) (gcc version 4.8.2 (Ubuntu
4.8.2-19ubuntu1) ) #57-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jul 15 03:51:08 UTC 2014
/etc/network/interfaces is :
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system
# and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5).
# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
# The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.0.207
gateway 192.168.0.1
netmask 255.255.255.0
#auto eth1
iface eth1 inet manual
(I commented our the auto eth1, System hanged for 60 secs at bootup.)
ifconfig gives :

What happened to eth1 ???
cat /etc/dnsmasq.d/01-grasehotspot gives :

Finally at bootup, I saw that chili was complainig about network eth1 not
existing (I've searched /var/log/dmesg but couldn't find the exact
message... where can I find a log of the bootup events ?)
I can't see eth1 on lan, and it doesn't seem to reply to any ip listed
above (and surely not on 10.1.0.1). It's like as if there was no activity
on that card although it lights up when I plug a switch on it and laptop on
that switch tries to connect but can't get info...
I suppose the tun0 is what replaces the eth1 in this setup - but why is
it's IP 10.64.62.6 ?
I've surely missed a step (4 times??) but am to no avail as to where I've
gone wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated in finding out where I've goofed or
what I've missed.
Thank you
Enzo
