Unfortunately I don't have any instructions for installing in a non 
apt/dpkg distro. I've packaged it as it makes it easy for people to 
install it and keep it up to date, without worrying about any config or 
dependencies.
Best suggestion is to download each package, extract them (I believe it 
is trivial to extract the contents), and then look at where the files 
should be installed, and do the manual config required. Generally, if 
you are setting it up you'll be dedicating a machine to it, so I don't 
feel bad making it Debian or Ubuntu for both my ease in development and 
your ease in deployment. If you just want to test it out, consider a 
virtual machine or look at the demo online (demo.grasehotspot.org)
