I don't know if this is even possible but a feature that would be nice
would be to be able to send out a broadcast message to everyone logged
in. Like the Unix write(1) command.

I'd like to, for example, be able to warn everyone when the satellite
bandwidth is getting tight.

A useful alternative might be to have an email address stored in each
user's record (maybe you already do that; I haven't upgraded yet) and
add a facility to send a message to every email address.

Changing subjects, earlier you recommended when I upgrade Ubuntu to use
the server version. I really need to have the desktop version on this
machine, as it serves as my lab machine on occasion. The current
version of Grase is running on 12.04 desktop without any problems.

Any problems that I should expect with the desktop?

Thanks,
John
