Hi,

Using Jorges solution here..

gr***t@grasehotspot.org
We also had some "polymorphic" cards that decided to change their names
from time to time, so we fixed that by doing this:

1. Modify /etc/default/grub and add:

2. GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="net.ifnames=0 biosdevname=0"

3. Then force the create of a new grub.cfg file
sudo update-grub

4. Then reboot the system

Issue.. This Ubuntu 14.04 tends to change its NIC names :-)

So, in effect, Chilli / Grase is not seeing eth0 and eth1. System by
default uses p6p1 and p7p1 in place of eth0 and eth1 respectively.

What I have tried:
1.
Let Ubuntu to use its default NIC names p6p1 and p7p1 and updated
/etc/network/interfaces
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
to match these settings..

When chilli starts, it complains for eth0. It can't find eth0

Question: where do you get grase / chilli to use the new NIC names?

With this, my dhcp via WAN works and connects.
Only issue is how to configure grase / chilli to use new NIC names.

2.
Update as per Jorges suggestions and updated also
/etc/network/interfaces
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
to match these new settings..

Now, eth0 is not getting IP via DHCP

Question: How do I troubleshoot or fix eth0 so it communicates properly.
Feels like Ubuntu prefers to use it original NIC names rather than ethx.

Note I also disabled IPv6 in grub to speed up boot process.

Would appreciate a solution for either Option 1 or Option 2.

Look forward to ideas..
