I'm using a clean install of Ubuntu server with Grase, so everything is working perfectly over here. The only "problem" I encountered was a faulty NIC, and not getting in touch with the LAN-side until I performed a restart after intallation.
I can't see any mail-activity from the machine, but it could be one of the four firewalls between the hotspot and the modem that prevents it from using those ports. 
I must add in, that is was very easy to set up the system!
