First of all i want to say a lot of thanks for providing the great grase hotspot. I am using it for 2 years on one of my office site. Its working perfectly. I want to install it soon on Raspberry PI 3.
For that i've tested the grase hotspot first on ubuntu mate 14.04 on a virtual machine. it works fine. Now the concern is: Raspberry PI offers only ubuntu mate 16.04 image, which is right not compatible with grase. Is there any chance to get an update of grase hotspot for ubuntu 16.04.

It's not currently tested against 16.04, you'll need to use 14.04. Also, it's highly recommended you don't use a desktop version of Ubuntu, and use the server version instead. Network Manager is installed in the desktop version and gives issues if not disabled correctly.
It'll be a number of months before I test on 16.04 and make builds that will work there.
