Hi,
you might try a diffrent USB /Ethernet adapter like thoose old ones from Logitech. Further you should check if you have errors on your connection to teh acesspoint. I've such setup with a pi2 and a additional running a Banapi routerboard and as accesspoint iI use cisco 1231 in a. outdoor enviroment and  it works fine, does not matter how much clients because the bandwitdh is limited due to the 16Mbit ADSL.
