I am running two instances of nightly build without a problem. This 
morning realease showing v3.7.7.11.403.g6a46f86. So I can't see any 
problem with software per se.
Desktop ubuntu is not recemended platform with reason. OK,  you claim 
that you have server platform too. And also claim that behavior is the 
same. If that server running on same Desktop machine the problem could 
be the same: The Desktop!!! (Screen saver, power, saving, sleep. are 
main suspects.   I am using ubuntu Desktop as desktop at one machine and 
don't really like its behavior regarding mentioned functions. I am 
probably lazy to dig deeper in order to set those according my taste.)

So, if not Desktop something may wrong with your LAN  adapter on server 
or your AP device doing a random disconnecting or lock.
First thing when accident occure try to reset your AP device (power off 
and on).

If you can't identify a problem, disconnect AP and connect another PC/NB 
to server LAN adapter by wire. Then see the behavior.

Assume you are familiar with all NICs  setting, monitoring, cabling ....
